The Preparation Course Series was something my partner and I probably should have done six months earlier. We came in knowing very little about how separation processes typically work in Thailand, and the course gave us a clear picture without the overwhelm. The facilitator was careful to stay within what the course covers — educational only — and pointed us to the right professionals when our questions went further. That honesty was, honestly, a relief.

I used the Family Organiser Toolkit on its own. Took me about two weekends to work through properly. The templates are genuinely well laid out — the asset inventory in particular was something I wish I had done years before things became complicated. My only comment would be that a couple of sections could use slightly more explanation for someone not familiar with financial documents. But overall it did exactly what I needed it to do.

The Listening & Understanding Workshop was not what I expected, in a good way. I thought it would feel like a seminar. It was much more like a structured conversation with a small group of people in a similar situation. The exercises were practical and immediately usable. I used what I learned in a difficult conversation with my husband the following week and it made a genuine difference to how the conversation went.

We did the full course series. By the end of it, my wife and I had a shared picture of everything we own together, a rough idea of the steps ahead, and — I think more importantly — a way of talking about difficult things that did not immediately become an argument. The course does not solve anything for you. But it gave us the groundwork to have better conversations with our lawyer when the time came.

I attended the workshop alone, without my husband. I wanted to understand more about how to approach certain conversations before raising them at home. The session was thoughtful and well-paced. I appreciated that the group was kept small — there were eight of us — and the facilitator did not push any particular approach to family matters. Just practical skills. I would recommend it to anyone in a difficult household period, even if their partner is not ready to attend.

The toolkit was straightforward and practical. I had been meaning to organise our household documents for a long time and this gave me a structure to actually do it. Working through it also helped me see what we did not have — documents we needed to locate or request. For the price, it is a very useful thing to have.

Organising before consulting a lawyer
Preparation Course Series · 4 weeks · Couple, Phuket
The situation
A couple with a shared business and two properties in Phuket knew they needed to separate their finances and assets before proceeding formally. Neither had a clear picture of what they jointly owned or what documentation they held. Their first meeting with a lawyer had gone poorly because they could not answer basic questions.
What they did
They enrolled in the Preparation Course Series together. Over four weeks, they worked through the household inventory, located or requested missing documents, and attended the communication modules — which helped them stay in the same conversation without it breaking down. By the end, they had a shared written record of their assets, liabilities, and key documents.
What changed
Their second meeting with a lawyer was described as productive rather than difficult. They could answer questions clearly and had a shared document to refer to. The legal process that followed was still complex, but they entered it prepared. One participant described the course as "the thing that made the rest manageable."
A household relocation with shared responsibilities
Family Organiser Toolkit · Self-guided · Family of four, Phuket to Bangkok
The situation
A family was relocating from Phuket to Bangkok with one partner continuing to manage a rental property in Phuket. They needed a clear record of their financial responsibilities, lease arrangements, and practical handover documentation — and had not found a ready-made system to do this.
What they did
They purchased the Family Organiser Toolkit and adapted several of the templates to their relocation context — specifically the shared responsibility log and the document tracker. They worked through it over two weekends and produced a clear reference document both partners could access and update.
What changed
The move itself went more smoothly than previous relocations, according to the participant. Having a written record of responsibilities meant fewer misunderstandings once the family was in two different cities. The toolkit's guidance notes also helped them identify one document they had overlooked — a lease amendment that needed updating before the move.
